Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games and is derived from 1700s France. The name blackjack comes from USA where players were attracted to play blackjack by various bonuses. The best bonus were received by the Ace of spades and a black jack, hence the name Blackjack. Blackjack has become popular thanks to its simplicity. Everyone can play Blackjack and have the chance to win money without any major effort.
Blackjack usually consists of 1-7 players where all play against the house. In blackjack, a standard deck of 52 cards is used and each player is assigned 2 visible cards except from the dealer who only has 1 visible card. The goal with blackjack is to win over the dealer by being closer to 21 without exceeding the amount. The cards have different values. An Ace has a value of 1 or 11, King, Queen, Jack and 10 has a value of 10. The rest of the cards have their usual value. Blackjack is the best possible hand which you get by a combination of an Ace and a 10 value card. Blackjack wins over all hands, even if you manage to draw to 21 with several cards. If your 2 cards for instance have the value 11, you can choose to take more cards until you feel satisfied with your hand. The dealer has the same option although he has to stand if he receives 17 or more.
Insurance
If you manage to win with blackjack, the dealer gives you 1.5 times your money back. If the dealer busts by receiving a higher value than 21, or if you are closer to 21 without exceeding the amount you will receive 1 times your bet as profit. You have the option to use an insurance if you believe that the dealer has a blackjack. This is useful if the dealer has a visible Ace. The player can then use an insurance policy to protect themselves. The stake is half of a normal bet size and if the dealer turns out to have blackjack, the player receives 2 times the money back from the side bite, while the original bet is played as usual.
Split
If your 2 cards form a pair, as for example, two fives, you can choose to split your cards. A split will cost you a bet but you get 2 separate hands to play against the house. If you split a pair of aces and then hit a card with 10 in value you will not get an ordinary blackjack. This is still a very strong hand, but the profit is limited to 1 times bet.
Doubling
A player who has been awarded 2 cards has the opportunity to double his bet. When a player chooses to double he will only receive one more card while the dealer has the same conditions as usual, meaning that he can continue to draw if he hasn’t reached 17 or higher.
